The Pirate Heir surprises from the first page. The pacing and tone of the novel are consist the whole way through. Reilly's writing is compelling; it's impossible to set this book down once you begin reading. The balance between adventure and romance is just right. Reilly has developed strong leading characters, but also has very well rounded supporting characters. I was surprised by who I found myself cheering for at certain points in the novel.

This is a book that can be enjoyed by various age groups. Both myself, a young adult, and my grandmother think that it is simply wonderful! I will be recommending this book to my friends. Can't wait for the sequel.

Reilly Woodhouse has created an original story full of great characters. The Pirate Heir, is an interesting story full of intrigue, and this tale full of twists leaves the reader wondering and wanting more. I find myself routing for both of the key characters, hoping they both get what they want. I look forward to seeing what will happen next.
I loved the romance in this book, because it wasn't like the hollywood naughty gross romance but rather a very real and beautiful romance. I say "hot stuff" because I can see a lot of guys finding the woman in this book very hot lol. We all love a tough yet feminine woman!
This was so easy to read and so enjoyable that I didn't even realize I was flying through the chapters. Unlike twilight, in which I barely made it through the first book. I am completely amazed that it was written by a 14 year old girl with Aspergers too. I can't wait for the next book and for whatever else this girl comes up with!
As one of the author's aunts, I want to say how impressed I was with this book. Reilly's creativity really came through for her in Pirate Heir. She is brimming with ideas for sequels to the book, and maybe even a prequel. I can't wait to see what she publishes next. However, because her family had never dealt with a publisher until recently, they did not know how much the editors can change a story. The book Reilly submitted to the publisher did NOT have a near rape scene in it. It did have an attack scene in it, but it was in no way sexual. It did not have sensual kissing in it. Reilly is a super sweet girl and never wrote anything like that. Now Reilly and her parents know how much the editors changed things, they will be ready to work directly with them on Reilly's next book, and be sure it reflects Reilly's standards.
What a great read! It is incredible to think that a fourteen year old girl could produce such a masterpiece. I'm dying for the sequel!!
